The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
